I specialize in Reading and Writing, but can also tutor students in a variety of other subjects. Phonics, Grammar, Literature, English as a Second Language, and Study Skills are all areas I can tutor. I can also help students with preparation for the ACT, PSAT, and SAT.I hold a degree from the University of North Carolina Charlotte and have teaching and tutoring experience in the Charlotte area. My plan is to help students map out how they will reach their academic goals and then support them as they take the steps needed to achieve their goals. This involves getting to know each student and understanding both what they are interested in academically and how they learn. There is no one particular learning style, just as there is no one particular goal, and to approach tutoring with a one-size-fits-all strategy is a recipe for disaster.My hobbies and interests are very traditionally teacher-ish. I like books, coffee, and fiction of the fantasy and science variety. However, I also enjoy the outdoors and often go hiking or riding horses.
